Boosting Traces

With the trace boosting feature you get more control over the trace sampling that Tideways uses to filter up to your traces / minute license limit. Select one or multiple transactions and optionally add more filter criteria based on the request and Tideways will sample traces matching the trace boost rules with higher preference.

Examples of Trace boost rules that you could run on your application:

  • Keep all traces of a specific URL that is slow
  • Keep all error traces with status code 500 on a specific endpoint
  • Keep all traces of a customers subdomain ""

To use trace boosting, drill down into a transaction of your application, then click on "Boost Traces" and fill out and submit the form with your filter criteria and notification preferences.
Navigate to the "Boosts" entry in the main navigation on top to see a list of all active and recently completed trace boosts of your application:

You can also send notification summaries via E-Mail or Slack when a trace boost is completed, so that you can immediately dive into the data:

License Limitations

Trace boosting is only available to applications with "Basic", "Standard" or "Pro" licenses with the following limitations:

Maximum Concurrent Boosts
Basic 1 hour
Standard 24 hours
Pro 24 hours
